Winner of the Menkes Audience Choice Award at the 2017 Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, Nattawut Poonpiriya’s Bad Genius tells the story of a lower-class high-school student who becomes a millionaire after dreaming up extravagant schemes to help other students cheat — putting millions of dollars and everyone’s final grades at stake in the process. Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying makes her acting debut as Lynn, a brilliant 17-year-old who struggles to face the pressures of the socio-economic division between her and her “friends,” some of whom are coerced into the scheme. Loosely based on recent instances of exam cheating committed by students in Thailand, this thrilling and exhilarating heist film addresses quintessential coming-of-age dilemmas and dares to ask how far people will go to get what they want.

  2. Ending was a joke, she doesn't take the money after all that and drops the guy whose life she ruined?? – disappointingly unrealistic & hollywood ending of a great film.
